Avoiding Burnout & Living with Vitality

Burnout can take on many forms and affect us emotionally, mentally, and physically as well as spiritually. Sometimes it feels like our soul is zapped and we have nothing left to give.

What are some ways that we can avoid these feelings of burnout and lack of vitality?

On a physical level, one might want to look at adrenal burnout. Some symptoms of adrenal burnout are aches and pains, sweet cravings, exhaustion, low blood sugar, trouble getting to sleep and waking up, a reliance on stimulants,  a pain in the neck and more.  There are lots of great articles and info on supporting the adrenals and I will be sharing some here at this blog as well, but today I want to talk more about the spiritual side of burnout…..

Inspiration or  ‘in spirit’ is a force all on its own and when we feel overwhelmed, over burdened or afraid, our inspiration hides itself from us. We become disconnected from our own inspiration and life force.

How do we connect to this inspirational life force?  There are many ways but today I will cover a few key ones.

  1. You must honor your wants and desires. YOU are important in YOUR life and you need to accept this. Please don’t live your life for others only. It’s great to appreciate  the people in your life, like your kids and your significant other etc., but please don’t lose yourself. YOUR life is a gift and you need to open your gift and share your gifts with the world. Your kids are here to experience and en-JOY their journey and you are here to en-JOY yours too! One of the best things you can do is to lead by example and pave the wave for your kids and those in your life to appreciate their lives, by appreciating yours and honoring your desires and wants!
  2. Let go of the things than don’t serve you, including the past.  As a Life Coach the biggest pain body I see in people, that is affecting their health today, is hanging on to pain from the past. There are many ways to let this go, life coaching, counselling and pyshcotherapy for example, but I would offer to you it really does not have to be as hard as we think and the sooner you release it, the faster  your inspiration and vitality will improve. Do whatever you need to do to let go of yesterday.
  3.  Support your body, mind and soul by adding in more… more nutrients, more calm, more meditation, more nature, more LOVE, more JOY, more HAPPY.  The biggest key here is to ALLOW yourself to have these things. Most people, because of running old programs, love to sabotage themselves  and ‘punish’ themselves because they don’t feel worthy. Recognize what it is you are doing and change it 🙂

I am going to wrap up for today and let these three ideas or concepts sit with you. I hope you find them helpful and remember you need to adapt and do what works for YOU. It is my only wish that you do for YOU that which brings you JOY and helps you to have more vitality  and inspiration in your life.

Top Health Trend for 2019 Might Surprise You!

I was reading an article someone sent to me about the latest wellness trends and what would be popular in 2019. Of course celery juice was #1 on the list. You can learn more about celery juice at my blog post from last year here: Link to Celery Juice 101 Blog Post

But today I want to talk about another trend that I think is awesome! The trend is that people are going to realize that a healthier lifestyle means more than what they eat, how intense their workouts are, etc.

More and more people are coming to realize that the little things we do on a daily basis have a huge impact on our health and peace of mind. These are usually parts of our lives that we take for granted, like spending time with those we love, taking down time, taking a break from technology, reading a book, cooking a meal, playing a board game together, going for a walk, and basically getting back to living and en-JOYing life!

I really love this trend and am inspired to add in more of this life en-JOYment for myself and I hope you too find that 2019 brings you more of the things that make you smile and that connect your with those you love!

Nature’s Gifts

Rhubarb.jpg

My hubby was cleaning up an area at the cottage a couple of weeks ago and when he showed me his work, thinking I would be impressed, he was surprised when I got upset! He had cleaned up alright. He had taken out some rhubarb that had magically appeared there the prior year. I assumed that a bird or the wind had graciously delivered the seeds to this new spot and was delighted that I now had rhubarb at the camp, but not anymore after his clean up job. 😦

Anyhow, I got over it, but I was so excited to discover this little gift when I looked this weekend! I declared “Thank you Universe!”. I was so happy to see this little rhubarb plant on this large patch of earth. There it was standing all by itself presenting itself as a gracious gift to us!! I was delighted and my hubby of course, felt much better then as he was off the hook. 🙂

Life is full of gifts if we take the time to appreciate them. I look at this rhubarb plant and think of all the nourishment and pleasure it can provide.

Here is a great article with Smoothie Recipes for Rhubarb

I hope you enjoy finding the gifts that are waiting for you and that you celebrate in them!

Transformation is One Step at a Time

butterfly-3407358_1920

Today I want to talk a little bit in regard to our health and implementing new habits. One of the biggest mistakes I often see people making, is not being gentle enough on themselves!!!

Making change is a process. Just like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly one day, healthy changes take time and are based on the whole experience being a journey.  Whether you are adding in more healthy foods, more exercise to your life, or working on changing thought patterns and negative beliefs, keep in mind that when you feel overwhelmed, or that you are struggling, this is just a transitional phase. Just like that butterfly working and growing to get out of that cocoon!

All of the steps and changes are a process that require compassion for your body and for your mental health.  The kinder you can be to yourself, the gentler the transition.

Change often triggers emotions and can bring up emotional ‘stuff’, especially when detoxing happens by adding in more nutrients and removing toxins from the body and mental body. Things can get stirred up both physically and emotionally. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing and it won’t last forever, although it sometimes feels like that. The more challenging it feels, the more you need to be compassionate and empathetic with these changes.

As I have written about frequently in the past, when making changes, it’s always best to focus on where you are heading and what the future will look like. See yourself in that new found healthy and free to be you place just like the butterfly that becomes free to fly and be who they are.

Keep your focus and sights on your healthy future, feel the new feeling as though it were already here, be gentle on yourself always, and be open to the miraculous changes that take place as you become your own butterfly!

Pathways to Health

health pathwaysred

As a person who has been studying health and wellness for most of my adult life and having attained the title of Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist, one of the things that really fires me up and excites me, is that there are indeed many pathways to health.

Oftentimes people feel overwhelmed when they think of making health and lifestyle changes. However, realizing that there are many pathways means that there are truly many things that can make a difference and even small things! This truly is exciting.  At least to me 🙂

As a Life Coach of many years I have come to realize that everyone, including myself is and has been at different stages in our lives when it comes to health and wellness and what we do to improve that area.  Sometimes we are more pro-active then others and sometimes not so much. The good news is that at anytime we can add in more good and it WILL make a difference. All steps start with the first.

For example, I am currently working with someone to help them improve their daily diet in an effort to add in more nourishment. We are working on adding in two servings of fruit per day. Now some of you may eat lots of fruit and others, like my client, not so much. So for her two servings of fruit is going to be a big catalyst in her wellness protocol. It will also be a launching pad to more good things. A new pathway perhaps! 🙂

Just like every body is different and every health challenge is different  so are the roads to wellness. I encourage everyone to just start on the path. Jump on the road to adding more nourishment and vibrancy into your life. Look for ways to add in more…. more goodness, more nutrients, more water, more joy, more walks, more nature, more love, more fruits, more peace…. just MORE! And before you know it you will have created a new pathway to better Health! 🙂

MaggieHolbik.com is a Life Coach and Nutritionist who resides in Northwestern Ontario Canada and did yoga outside in her back yard today for the first time! 🙂  First time outside, that is. See she’s adding in more… more yoga, peace, sunlight, listening to the birds…. What will you add more of?

Lovey & Dovey on Friendship

LoveyandDovey
Here is a picture of me with friend Karen aka “Dovey”. We have had these nicknames with each other for years and now even my daughter is “Little Lovey”. Great friendships are truly vitamins for the soul! Karen and I do not see each other often, but when we do it’s a whole lot of laughter, light heartedness and just pure joy. This picture was taken last summer when we went on a garden tour together. At the end of the tour we purchased some homemade lemonade and enjoyed the refreshment of both the drink and our being together once again in friendship.

Friendships are so important. Do you have a friend that you haven’t connected with in a while? Why not pick up the phone right now and call or text them and suggest a get together? I once read that one of the top regrets people have at the end of their lives is that they lost contact with friends and this was something that they truly regretted.

I love, honor, and cherish my friend “Dovey” and thank her from the bottom of my heart for being in my life. I wish everyone friendships that make you smile and bring you bliss, joy and lots of sunshine!
