Energy Banks & Our Health

Our Energy Banks

It seems that almost every day I have a conversation with at least someone about my new insight into ‘energy banks’.

Since my cancer diagnosis and with how my life has changed, I get at a deep, deep, level the significance of working wisely with our own personal energy source. I see the source as banks or batteries and in a day each bank that I have has only so much power and I choose where I use that power.

For example, I am using the majority of my banks and my power to focus on my healing and in clarifying my journey. I understand that without a shadow of a doubt, the highest and wisest use of my time is to zone in on making my life conducive to perfect health which includes many things such as high quality foods, supportive therapies, peace of mind and more.

In come my energy banks! In a day I must direct my energy and stored energy (there is only so much in a day) to where I need them to go to support my efforts.

I highly recommend considering this concept in your own life regardless if you have a challenging illness or not.

I will give you an idea of what I mean. Sometimes I will be having a conversation with someone about a ‘whatever’ topic and I might say something to them like “You know what, I am not really up to or interested in talking about this as I need to reserve my energy for my healing“. And they almost always completely understand :-).

When you are faced with your own mortality, things become real clear and really quick. Even when it comes to my overall diagnosis, prognosis, and therapies, it is often not something I want to go into details about because I am using my energy to keep my mindset positive and to focus on what I need to do in my day to heal.

Not that I don’t ever talk about these things. I find I am often sharing with others who are on similar journeys and it gives me JOY to encourage and inspire them along their journeys too, but I am very conscious of how much energy I expend and I monitor when I need to pull back.

Even with discussions, whether vocal or written, I monitor how much energy I expend and I question could this energy be better spend elsewhere?

Other People’s Energy

I also love the idea of leveraging everyone else’s energy when it comes to my healing and well-being which is why I never want people to think of me and to be fearful or worried. The best use of anyone’s thoughts or energy would be best spent thinking of me and seeing me as vibrant, healthy, JOYful, happy, and as Full-Speed Ahead moving into the next phase of my amazing life with smooth sailing. That’s how I want people to see me and to use their energy. πŸ™‚

There are really only two emotions or ranges of e-motion also known as energy in motion and they are FEAR and LOVE. Love always feels better and love is always the answer. So the more others think of me with hopeful and awesome visions, the better for them and the better for me. See, we all win.

I hope that you too tap into leveraging your energy banks and remember sleep and rest are one of the best ways to restore your banks and naps are great for this too, just sayin πŸ™‚

Have an amazing day everyone!

How is your friendship with yourself? Have you checked in on that lately?

Our friendship with ourselves is the most important friendship we will ever have.

Are you supporting YOU?

Are you loving YOU?

Are you caring for YOU?

Are you saying nice things to YOU?

Are you doing nice things for YOU?

Are you listening to YOUR own heart?

Are you working on YOUR dreams?

I sure hope so and if not, maybe it’s time to check in with YOU! πŸ™‚

Love – A Prescription for Healing

Love is the medicine for the sickness of the world; a prescription often given too rarely taken.

dr. karl menninger

One of the most healing and supportive therapies for anyone or for any condition is LOVE! And it works any way you use it… giving or receiving it. πŸ™‚ It’s a beautiful thing really.

Try to actively add more LOVE into your life. You can love up your kids, your pets, your spouse or even a stranger. Show kindness, smile often and just … give LOVE….

Tenderness & Kindness

Tenderness is a quality that will take you a long way in life.

When I saw this picture of the three hands, all I could think and feel was ‘tenderness’.

The synonyms of tenderness which are also beautiful:
affection, fondness, love, devotion, lovingkindness, emotion,
sentiment, sentimentality,

I think my favorite synonym is the ‘lovingkindness’ one. Tenderness and loving-kindness are two beautiful gifts that we can give to both ourselves and others. If we treat all people through these two attributes, the world will be a much kinder and more peaceful world where love can shine through.

Be Kind

Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Be kind to animals. Be kind to plants. Be kind to the earth. The list of ways to practice kindness and tenderness are endless but it starts with tenderness for oneself. When one can feel the frequency of kindness toward oneself and experience its effects, one can project kindness out into the world. It’s kind of like a flashlight. When you charge your own kindness batteries you are able to project your light of kindness onto others. πŸ™‚

Our greatest strength lies in the gentleness and tenderness of our heart.

Reflexology, self-care, self-love, Your Amazing Life

What is Reflexology

One of my favorite self-care modalities is going for regular Reflexology sessions. Not only do I find it so beneficial for my health and wellness, but it’s so relaxing! And I am one of those people who love having my feet touched, rubbed, and given attention :-), so this works for me.

In reflexology, pressure is placed on areas of the hands and feet in order to improve healing and reduce pain.Β  The idea is that there are points in the hands and feet that correlate and are connected to other areas throughout the body.Β  These points are called reflex areas.Β

You may have seen a reflexology chart before that shows these areas of connection.Β  For example, the ball of the foot is connected to the heart and chest while the lower back and intestines are connected to the heel of the foot. Reflexology dates back to at least ancient Egypt.Β  Illustrations on tomb walls show physicians using the foot to heal the entire body.  Over time, this practice has evolved, and today modern research backs up the premise that these points exist.  (http://reflexology-usa.net/history.htm)

Reflexology and massage often go hand in hand, but they aren’t the same thing.  Massage can take place all over the body and focuses on the soft tissue in the body such as muscles and fascia.  Reflexology is a specialized practice that focuses on the reflex points in the hands, feet, and ears, whereas massage often takes place over the entire body.

Acupressure is another similar healing art, but it is also different from reflexology.  Acupressure addresses energy lines called meridians.  With this practice there are 14 long lines of energy that run the length of the body and there are hundreds of pressure points along these lines.

Some of these pressure points are found along the feet, hands, and ears.  However, there are relatively few compared to pressure points found throughout the entire body.  Again, reflexology focuses only on the feet, hands, and ears.

Reflexology may be combined with massage or acupressure, but it can stand alone as well.  Some reflexologists choose to get certified in multiple therapies while others work only in reflexology.

Reflexology has been known to have health benefits for thousands of years.  It can help to improve physical and mental health by reducing the effects of stress and anxiety.  It can provide relief from headaches and other forms of pain.  It can improve blood pressure, circulation, and can be used to combat the symptoms from cancer and cancer treatment.

This healing art can improve your sleep, increase your energy, and assist with improving your mood.Β  If you suffer from mental health issues, arthritis, diabetes or a neurological condition you’ll find that reflexology is complementary therapy.

As far as side effects go, reflexology has relatively few.Β  Some people report having sensitivity in their feet after a session.Β  You might also experience fatigue, a runny nose, or coughing afterward.Β  This is because the practice of reflexology can release toxins and your body will work to rid itself of those.Β  Side effects usually last less than a day and are rarely serious.

I highly recommend this wonderful modality as part of your regular self-care. Taking care of yourself is a very high form of self-love and is so, so important. Reflexology is an excellent way to practice self-love, healing, and improving your overall well being.
